Norco, CA - Two CNUSD teachers received awards from the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA).
Mr. Jim Johnson from Eleanor Roosevelt High School received the Veteran Teacher award. The Veteran Teacher award is given to teachers who have made extraordinary contributions to local music education over careers of twenty years or more.
Mr. Mike Gangemi from Santiago High School received both the Outstanding Jazz Educator award AND the coveted Gold Award. The Outstanding Jazz Ensemble Educator is awarded to a member who has made extraordinary contributions to jazz education and SCSBOA.
Each year the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) recognizes outstanding and distinguished music educators in Southern California. Nominations pour in from as far north as Bakersfield and as far south as San Diego.
The field is narrowed, and the final vote is determined by the 17 members who make up the Board of Directors of the SCSBOA. This year we are proud to have had 2 of our CNUSD music educators recognized among the very best in Southern California.
Past SCSBOA award winners in the CNUSD include Kris Parish (SHS retired), Jill Geist (Ramirez IS), Kyle Betts (Norco IS), and Joe Dudek (SHS).
