CNUSD Schools Honor Patriot Day

CNUSD schools held various 9-11 remembrance ceremonies and activities.

Eleanor Roosevelt High School hosted a 9/11 Remembrance event honoring the 2,977 victims of the September 11th tragedy on its 20th anniversary. The event, spearheaded by the ERHS Associated Student Body and the Future Business Leaders of America club, included participants holding up the names of those who lost their lives all throughout campus on the morning of 9/11.

The ceremony took place on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, and began at 8:46 a.m. It consisted of guest speakers and three moments of silence representative of the times when the airplanes were crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

• 8:46 am – Hijackers aboard American Airlines Flight 11 crash the plane into floors 93-99 of the North Tower of the World Trade Center, killing everyone on board and hundreds inside the building.

• 9:03 am – Hijackers crash United Airlines Flight 175 into floors 75-85 of the WTC’s South Tower, killing everyone on board and hundreds inside the building.

• 9:37 a.m. Hijackers aboard Flight 77 crash the plane into the western façade of the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., killing 59 aboard the plane and 125 military and civilian personnel inside the building.

“It is our honor to commemorate and recognize the victims and first responders of the tragic events of September 11, 2001,” said Greg Anderson, Roosevelt Principal. “I am proud of our staff and students who are organizing this event for the Mustang community.”

There was a Never Forget banner displayed in the courtyard.
