On Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023 at a regularly scheduled Board Study Session, the Board of Education reviewed an initial presentation of two separate draft boundary change proposals within the Corona-Norco Unified School District.
Historically, school boundaries are updated periodically due to growth and development in our service areas to ensure balanced enrollment, distribution of resources, and school safety.
The schools considered for boundary change adjustments for the 2024-25 school year included the following:
-
Harada Elementary to Rosa Parks Elementary, Rondo School of Discovery to Reagan Elementary, Wilson Elementary to Orange Elementary, and Temescal Valley Elementary to Wilson Elementary.
-
Roosevelt High School, Norco High School, Corona High School, and Vandermolen Elementary.
The Board discussion from Tuesday’s study session resulted in the following action:
-
The Board gave direction to bring back the first proposed elementary boundary changes with recommended edits to the Nov. 7 Board Meeting Agenda for a vote (See details here).
-
The Board gave direction not to move forward with high school boundary considerations.
We understand school boundary changes can be tough on families, and as a large district, we aim to minimize impact, while still accomplishing our goal of providing the best possible educational experience for our students.
