Corona High Decathlon Team Wins Big in County Competition

Corona, CA - The Corona High School Decathlon Team took 3rd place overall and 2nd place in the Super Quiz category at the Riverside County Academic Decathlon Competition winning 26 medals in total. Students met virtually every Saturday for the last six months to prepare for the big event. The theme for this year’s decathlon was Cold War.
Among the most notable of the Panthers’ success was Emily A. who won gold in the Speech Competition with a perfect score, a first in the Riverside County Academic Decathlon history. Emily was invited to read her speech at the awards ceremony on Monday, Feb. 8.
Team Captain, Aisha R. (sophomore), won nine medals; five gold medals in Literature, Music, Science, Art, and Super Quiz. In addition, she won four silver medals in Social Science, Essay, Speech, and Overall Decathlete.
The second most awarded Decathlete was Emily D. (freshman) who won five medals including two silver medals in Music and Art, and three bronze medals in Economics, Speech, and Super Quiz.
Alyssa S. (senior) took home four medals; two gold in Speech and Super Quiz, and two silver in Science and Interview.
Juniors Moises M. and Sam M. took home two medals each. Moises won bronze in Literature and Super Quiz. Sam won silver in Science and Bronze in Math.
Sophomore Tai D. won bronze in the Super Quiz category.
Freshmen Araceli L. and Lorelei H. each both won a medal. Araceli won silver in Super Quiz and Lorelei won bronze in Speech.
