Corona - Bob Mauger is one of the finalists in B’laster’s Corporation’s 2021 Instructor of the Year competition. B’laster recognizes exceptional automotive technology instructors at high schools, vo-tech programs and community colleges across the United States.

“I am honored to have been selected as a finalist for the B'laster Instructor of the Year Program,” says Mauger. “The past eight months have been a trying time for all of us, and this is a little bit of sunshine to shine light on what we are doing to support our students and community. This nomination wouldn't have happened without the support of my program and my students from all of you.”

Mauger spent most of his career working in various industries until he found what he was looking for, an auto shop. The Corona High Automotive Technology Instructor discovered his passion by assisting at the school’s auto shop.

“I would assist my kids in the auto shop class,” said Mauger. “Which was cool because it was the same class I was in 25 years prior.”

Now since taking over the program nearly five years ago, Mauger has transformed the Auto Shop elective into a Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway powerhouse.

“I have built this program into a fully functioning shop using current industry standard tools and equipment. My students are using top of the line Snap-on tools and are earning certifications for Service Information, Battery, Starting and Charging, Engine Diagnostics, Digital Multimeters, Precision Measurement Instruments, ProCut On-Car brake lathes and Entry-Level ASE (Automotive Service Excellence),” said Mauger.

Corona High School offers automotive and aviation pathways. Career Technical Education provides students of all ages with the academic and technical skills, knowledge, and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners. Students have the opportunity to potentially earn industry certifications. To learn more about Career Technical Education, visit www.k12.ca.us/cte.
